BHL Holly: Small houndstooth
A straightforward pant pattern with great results !
I was thinking about a nice wide pant pattern for a future fabric printing experiment I have planned, and finally remembered about the BHL Holly pattern I was given for a Christmas past. Note off the top that this pattern ends at a 48” hip.
I didn’t make any changes to the pattern structurally except to shorten it, and I did nice deep hems! to have them be at wear with 2” heels length. These are for long legs I tell you! I used a machine blind hem and because I didn’t re-shape the bottoms for a proper turn-back, there are some little wrinkles at the hem that shouldn’t be there but are more or less unnoticeable.
This is extra lovely as I had planned this as a muslin for a future pair of graphic pants I have in my brain, and who doesn’t love a muslin that turns out so beautiful that it gets your brain firing on FASHION OPTIONS forever?
I added a patch pocket pick stitched by hand, basically just cellphone sized.
Fabric is a blend, I think partially wool as it took heat very well and creased quite well, but with a synthetic.
Waistband as ever is supported with ban-rol. I love it so very much.
Pattern: BHL Holly
My measurements: 30” waist, 37” hip
Size made: US 10

Next time: re-measure final pant leg to ensure correct turn-back for hem.
