Mending wranglers
A mend for a friend
Mostly photos, mostly in chronological order.
First: the necessary back hole patch
Sashiko thread for white pattern, denim patch, pink embroidery blanket stitch.
Then the tiny worn back spot
Some French knots thrown in for fun - embroidery thread
Then covering a tiny set of holes by the pocket
Five spoke woven rose, dipping thru jeans and patch frequently. Covering a tiny hole. Embroidery thread
Then some front pocket reinforcing - both got this treatment, but the other in white
Almost used this colour for the butt rose but thought better of it
Then a patch for one of the front holes, leaving the massive knee hole to live its life unfettered
A patch on the smaller of two front holes - the knee can go wild. Sashiko and embroidery thread
Finally, the inseam. This was a bit more complicated. Before:
Ripped that seam, starting where the center was already coming apart
Then I machined on a lightweight backing - some tencel twill scraps, with a tight but wide zig zag.
Then I whipstitched around, with a little bit of running stitch working into the butt at the top.
Did another go over with the machine zig zag where edges of the patch needed finishing. Then closed it back up
And that's all she wrote!
